HA2 - Evaluation

When I started this assignment, it seemed straight forward as i read through the tasks. Task 1 was basically just gathering research from the 3 organisations that we had to research, Brook, Youngminds and Frank. For this it was just mood boards that we had to create, but i feel like I spent too much time on these and fell behind a bit. It was a simple task to collect the research and write a few sentences and to what it expresses and should have been done in less time than it took. For task 2 we had to make more research into Lucozade so we could incorporate the meanings in with the 3 organisations. Again I spent too much on this and dragged it out over quite a few lessons. At this point I realised I have bad time management and was behind schedule on where I should have been with the work. For task 3, I found it hard to find some inspiration and ideas on manipulated imagery because I didn't have clue what I wanted mine to look like. In the end I found some that were unique and showed their interpretations clearly.

After I finished the research aspect of the tasks, I then had to do my own ideas generation to help me come up with ideas that I could use in my final pieces of work. I did an A3 sheet for each one and I came up with some really good ones. I made the mistake of going straight into making one of the logos first though, and not doing the ideas generation to help it flow, so it really confused me. So after I had finished the first label, I then to go back on myself and do the ideas generation. This helped me learn that you should always plan your work before you start on the practical of it, otherwise you’ll just fall behind like I did. Even though I fell behind I enjoyed this task, because it shown my imagination and how to generate ideas from nothing. After I had chosen my 3 ideas for my 3 labels, I then had to take images of what I wanted to be involved in the images and it all had to relate. I could have spent a bit more time on shooting better images with better ideas but I was happy with what id chosen and knew the finished result would be good anyway, so I didn’t change that. With the images I had to make a contact sheet on Photoshop which put them all on a document which I saved as JPEG and uploaded to my blog. This was a much easier way than uploading each picture separately, and it makes the work look much neater.

Once I had the images ready, all I had to do was to create my labels in Photoshop. At first I was stuck on how I could manipulate the images and I got lots of help off my tutor, but the end label was really good, He showed how using the slightest little effects could make a big difference on just one part of the image. It then made it easier for me to complete the other 2 labels with minima help. I did get distracted a lot throughout this project and I know I didn’t manage my time well, and if I was to do this again I would make sure that I made a project time management plan beforehand to keep me on track.
